About Fred Goldblatt
Dr. Fred Goldblatt has worked as a medical practitioner in rural parts of Iowa, making house calls and practicing at rural medical clinics in the region. On the other side of the world, Dr. Fred Goldblatt has worked in Waikiki at an urgent care facility and routinely treated visitors from all over the globe. Dr. Goldblatt’s roots in Hawaii trace back to serving as a civilian medical professional in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Dr. Goldblatt trained U.S Navy soldiers stationed at Pearl Harbor in all facets of field medicine for over two decades. He also treated U.S. Navy corpsmen, visiting military personnel, and military families. Dr. Fred Goldblatt served as the Director of Pre-hospital Services and as a General Medical Officer for the Department of Defense. He regularly provided advice to combat medics in battle regarding the stabilization and treatment of soldiers as well.
Dr. Fred Goldblatt was also the first Medical Director for the federal Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service. The organization was created to train ambulance drivers and EMTs in managing high-casualty situations. As the group's first Medical Director, he helped establish the procedures and guidelines at the core of the program. The program trained EMTs and drivers how to handle extraordinary circumstances, such as radiation exposure and fires. The program is now the template for high-risk ambulance response units in the U.S.
Dr. Goldblatt received his Doctorate of Osteopathy from Des Moines University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery before working with the Department of Defense. While in Hawaii, Fred Goldblatt also founded Rubber Soul, a celebrated Beatles tribute band. Playing John Lennon’s parts in performances across Hawaii, Fred Goldblatt and Rubber Soul frequently played functions to raise money for Alzheimer’s, leukemia, the Women’s Legal Foundation and various government groups. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Goldblatt enjoys participating in music productions at his temple, volunteering at Special Olympics events, and pursuing amateur astronomy.
